Welcome!
Here you can find information about our group. Picture galleries and stories tell you what we are all about.

WANDERVOGEL

The name Wandervogel means literally “migratory birds”. The movement arose in Germany around the turn of the century alongside the boy scout movement which took hold in England around the same time. You can read a little about Wandervogel in English and other languages like French, Norwegian, Russian or Polish on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wandervogel

There is room for both boys and girls in our group. The “founding fathers” decided this when the group began. We are basically a community rather than an association. Whether somebody fits in the group or not is something we find out together after a while. It is important for us to combine tradition with modernity. .

We are neither political nor religious. Also, there is no leader in our organization, no umbrella organization and no fortune. Big and small members alike have the right to make decisions in the group. Adult members take on the responsibility and are spokespersons for the group. Anybody can join us, older people as well as individuals, insofar as they feel a part of the community. Whether you are a member of another group or the scouting community in general, we are indepenent and free.

Friendship and community are what keeps us together and are at the core of the group.
